Where to get started on learning to code.

HEADS-UP!!

This is basically for those who have no idea in programming and want to start a career as web developers.

Lets get to the details

Ok! Before you digest the rest of this article, I want to you to understand that people learn differently “you learn differently”, so what works for you wouldn't in normal cases, work for the other person. So be sure to think about your learning style while looking at the tips i'm going to share below.

Take a course on introduction to computer science/web programming

The benefit of this step are not far fetched of course; it helps you learn the fundamentals and they are really thorough. They warm you up per say for the step ahead.

They also help you think around different problems and show solutions on how to solve them.

You need to understand that this is not for everyone. It takes a level of motivation and strict dedication to do this. Some of these courses often last for weeks, and if you're not prepared, you could loose motivation easily.

Check out interactive learning platforms such as CodeCademy FreeCodeCamp and Udacity.

These platforms let you practice while learning, content is broken down into very small bits to help you understand better. Learning is self-paced and you can dedicate as much time as you want.

I have found “W3SCHOOLS” very helpful, for learning on my own. It has an offline version and there are examples in each section for me to view and practice.

Find a mentor

Most people tend to misplace this part. A mentor guides you through.. Prior to this, you need to have a slight knowledge on what you want exactly. You need to give Him or Her something to bless (lets put it that way). He or She can then decide to start all over again or guide you from wherever it is you stopped and lead you on to become better.

Final Words

You don't want to waste your time making research on what the best resource for your learning path will be. You just have to find one, and stick to it!!

You are not alone in this.

Let me know if this helps you!!
